Creative Minds at Work
Applied Learning or Fine Arts strives to provide students with opportunities in engaging activities that will generate interest, spark passion, increase application of skills and knowledge, and facilitate communities that cultivate productive, civically-minded members of society. Applied Learning for elementary students focuses on six areas: Civic Engagement, Music & Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM & Computer Science, and Visual Arts.
In addition to core academic subjects such as Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies, Riverland Elementary offers enriching daily specials that support the development of the whole child. These specials include Music and a robust World Languages program featuring Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and French.
Music
Our Music program inspires creativity and confidence through rhythm, melody, and performance. Students explore instruments, vocal techniques, and musical expression in a fun and engaging environment that nurtures their artistic growth.
World Languages
Riverland Elementary is proud to offer a dynamic World Languages curriculum designed to foster global awareness and multilingual communication skills.

Spanish 1
This introductory course immerses students in basic Spanish vocabulary, greetings, numbers, colors, and everyday expressions. Through songs, games, and interactive activities, students begin to build foundational language skills and cultural appreciation. -
Spanish 2
Building on Spanish 1, this course deepens students’ understanding of sentence structure, conversational phrases, and cultural traditions from Spanish-speaking countries. Students engage in role-play, storytelling, and written exercises to enhance fluency and confidence. -
French
Our French program introduces students to the beauty of the French language and culture. Students learn essential vocabulary, greetings, and simple conversational phrases while exploring French customs, music, and art through engaging, hands-on activities.
