Riverland World Languages Magnet School

Riverland Elementary is the only World Languages Magnet Program within the Broward County School District.

The program consists of Spanish I, Spanish II and French offered to all students upon registration.

Mastery of a foreign language is found to be most effective when students are introduced to languages at an early age. This is supported by research that shows standardized test scores improve when a child studies a second language. This program features innovative writing, thinking, an interdisciplinary approach to learning, as well as the time to begin learning French or Spanish. Creative writing in the native and second language is the unifier of the school’s curriculum.

Program Offers

In addition to core academic subjects such as Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies, Riverland Elementary offers a robust World Languages program featuring Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and French.

World Languages

Riverland Elementary is proud to offer a dynamic World Languages curriculum designed to foster global awareness and multilingual communication skills.

Spanish 1
This introductory course immerses students in basic Spanish vocabulary, greetings, numbers, colors, and everyday expressions. Through songs, games, and interactive activities, students begin to build foundational language skills and cultural appreciation.
Spanish 2
Building on Spanish 1, this course deepens students’ understanding of sentence structure, conversational phrases, and cultural traditions from Spanish-speaking countries. Students engage in role-play, storytelling, and written exercises to enhance fluency and confidence.
French
Our French program introduces students to the beauty of the French language and culture. Students learn essential vocabulary, greetings, and simple conversational phrases while exploring French customs, music, and art through engaging, hands-on activities.

Academic Requirements

Riverland Elementary Magnet (a World Languages magnet in Broward County Public Schools) generally does not have academic entrance requirements for elementary-level magnet programs. Students in grades K-5 are accepted based on application, and all applicants are expected to demonstrate good conduct.

Transportation for Magnet Students

Riverland Elementary School is an all-county magnet school (for World Languages) which means transportation is provided for ALL out of boundary (World Languages) magnet students living more than two miles from our school.
